I recently read a Substack post about AI companies buying up books to scan and incorporate into their models. The post brings up a few good topics for discussion, but the one that stands out to me is how people believe that books are being preserved online by things like Project Gutenberg. While some of this is true, we've seen huge collections of books, and therefore human knowledge, being deleted due to ebook sellers going out of business. This site started as a CV with a few project cards. It's becoming something else. I want a place to write up my work as I'm doing it — session summaries for projects I'm building, longer notes on what I'm learning. I want a reading log and a watching log for the same reason a Now section exists: so this site captures the texture of the current chapter, not just the work-history shape. Most notes here will be project-tagged session summaries — for Riftward, the Foundation Design Suite, Provenance Map, and the others.
